All you need is love!

So its February, the month of lurve! But I’m not talking about finding you ideal partner. I’m talking about loving your life!

Can you say with confidence that you love your life?

Yes? You lucky duck! Or No, things could be better?

Whichever you answer, you’ll probably find that it is a lot to do with your mindset.

Are you a glass half full or half empty kind of person?

BUT, whichever you tend to think you are, you probably weren’t born like that. You are a product of certain conditioning and ingrained ways of thinking. If you’ve learned to look at the downside of things, its easy to continue this trait. We all know people who constantly only see the negative in every situation.

“I went on holidays, but the weather was really bad – just my luck.” You know the kind?

“I got an A in my exam, but it was total fluke”.

I remember a girl at school ooh-ing and aah-ing at me because I got 85% in a test. She told me how brilliant it was. So what did you get Mary? (that wasn’t her name!) The answer: “Oh I did SO bad – I got 92%!” I mean WTF?!

Godammit it people, the weather affects everyone, not just you – there’s no dark cartoon cloud following you around. And that A you got, well I’d suggest that you probably earned it – they don’t give out A grades willy-nilly.

So what would it take for these people to go on holidays in the rain and love it?

To love and be proud of the fact that they got an A?

Just a little bit of attitude awareness and adjust where necessary.

Catch the negativity.

Oh there she goes again, Old Downer Dora! It’s raining on my holidays – boo hoo! What would cheer her up? Oh I know, I’m on holiday and I’m not in work – Yay! It gives me time to research what to do tomorrow – Yay! I can read my book – Yay! Lets go to that museum – Yay! Lets have a long relaxing lunch – Yay!

Or I got an A! I’m so delighted and proud.

And a little bit of gratitude.

I’m so thankful that I was able to come on this holiday, that I have the health to enjoy it, the money to pay for it and the good company of my friends/family!

I’m so grateful and happy with my A!

And a positive outlook.

The rain will surely pass and tomorrow we can go to the beach.

If I got an A in this subject, what else could I do? I have the ability to do well.

Think how much brighter things would seem with a little tweak in attitude. You could be loving life a whole lot more.

But wearing rose tinted glasses all the time is not good either. We do need to have a little bit of a reality check. It’s obviously not all fluffy clouds and unicorns all the time and we’d be foolish to believe that it was.

An optimist is not a head in the clouds type person, but just someone who accepts that it’s raining and makes the best of it.

You may not be able to change the circumstances, but you can change your reaction to it.

So how can you make sure that you’re more in love with your life?
